Ehud

Who was Ehud in the Bible?

At first Ehud’s career as a judge in Israel may not seem relevant to us since he clearly lived in another time. Ehud took radical and violent action to free his people. His murder of Eglon shocks us. His was on Moab was swift and deadly. Ehud’s life is difficult to relate to. However our commitment to God’s Word challenges us not to ignore this leader. As we read about his life, questions come to mind like: (1) When was the last time God showed me something wrong in my life and I took immediate action to correct the error? (2) When was the last time I asked God to show me how He could use something unique about me (like Ehud’s left handedness)? (3) When was the last time I made a plan to obey God in some specific area of my life and followed through on the plan? (4) When was the last time my life was an example to others of obedience to God?

The enemies we face are as real as Ehud’s, but they are most often within ourselves. The battles we fight are not against other people, but against the power of sin in our lives. We need God’s help in doing battle against sin. We need to realize that God has already won the war. God has defeated sin at the cross of His Son, Jesus. His help is the reality of each success and His forgiveness is sufficient for each failure.

Do you allow God to fight your battles? Do you know God? Do you know Jesus?

Are you certain that you are going to heaven? If the answer is no or your not really sure and there is something stirring inside you at this very moment to do this, then all you have to do is say a small prayer and you can be assured of your name being added to the Book of Life. Go to the prayer of salvation and pray the words out loud and believe in your heart and you will be saved.

Ehud’s story is told in Judges 3:12 – 30.
