Who was Samson in the Bible?
It is sad to be remembered for what one might have been. Samson had great potential. Not many people started life with credentials like his. Born as a result of God’s plan on the lives of Manoah and his wife, Samson was to do a great work for God, to “begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines.” Samson was given great physical strength to help him accomplish God’s plan.
Samson wasted his strength on practical jokes and getting out of scrapes. He eventually gave it up altogether to satisfy the woman he loved. Samson is remembered as the judge in Israel who spent his last days grinding grain in an enemy prison. What wasted potential!
Yes it is true that Samson wasted his life. He could have strengthened his nation. He could have returned his people to the worship of God. He could have wiped out the Philistines. However, even though Samson did none of these things, he still accomplished the purpose announced by the angel who visited his parents before his birth. In his final act, Samson began to rescue Israel from the Philistines.
It’s interesting to note that in the New Testament Samson’s failures and heroic feats of strength are not mentioned. He is simply listed with others “who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice and gained what was promised.” In the end, Samson recognized his dependence on God. When he died, God turned his defeats and failures into victory. Samson’s story teaches us that it’s never too late to start over, no matter how badly we may have failed in the past. It is never to late to put your complete trust in God.

If the answer is no or your not really sure and there is something stirring inside you at this very moment to do this, then all you have to do is say a small prayer and you can be assured of your name being added to the Book of Life. Go to the prayer of salvation and pray the words out loud and believe in your heart and you will be saved.
